Bringing local groups together to strengthen the voluntary sector voice
HCN is an over-arching network comprising of local voluntary community and faith groups, networks and forums. Every two years HCN elect and Executive Board of community and voluntary sector representatives who drive the work of the HCN forward.
About the project
HCN view their networking events as crucial to keep local groups informed and develop good approaches between the VCSE and public sector so that approaches, ideas and initiatives are ‘joined up’. One of the central roles of the HCN is also to ‘narrow the gap’ between the experiences of those receiving services and the perspectives of those providing them. The outcome is the opportunity to inform commissioners, influence service provision and explore co-operation to ensure that we are taking into account the views of local groups.
Our role in the project
The HCN offer communication channels between the voluntary and community sector and those who make decisions locally. HCN identify ways in which members can participate and influence decisions affecting the delivery of services and brings together representatives from the voluntary and community not-for-profit sector in Hastings to identify areas of common interest and share information.
Who we’re working with
The HCN works with voluntary and community groups operating in the area to capture their opinions and expertise. The HCN links with Hastings Borough Council, East Sussex County Council and NHS organisations.
Our approach
Hastings Community Network is rooted in our members and we accomplish a lot together. We meet with our members four times a year to gather opinions, concerns and aspirations for our town, putting your issues on the agenda and affecting real change for the future of Hastings & St Leonards. Regular themed events are held that focus on key current issues and networking opportunities are organised to encourage joint working.
