The poster details the background, methods, work and results of the Hastings Macmillan Cancer Support Champions Project so far. It shows what is next for the project and what sustainability looks like at a community level.

Hastings Voluntary Action supports SELCS (South East Language and Cultural Services) which is a registered umbrella body for the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

SELCS provides low cost DBS checks using a virtual process, following government guidance. Volunteer DBS checks are free, with a £10 admin charge – lower than many other DBS providers. Please contact Pauline Lorence on 07840 794595 or email pauline@selcs.co.uk for more information.

HVA & Macmillan Cancer Support Champions Project present "From Pain to Power", the mid-term Stakeholder Report from September 2024 to March 2026.

The Macmillan Cancer Support Champions Project is one of eleven such projects across the country and is funded for three years by Macmillan. The key aim is to increase uptake of cancer services, particularly in underserved areas of Hastings, such as Broomgrove and Hollington. This report covers the first half of the project, from September 2024 to end of March 2026, and is divided into sections that link to the overall project plan

The Macmillan Cancer Support Champions Project is one of eleven such projects across the country and is funded for three years by Macmillan. The key aim is to increase uptake of cancer services, particularly in underserved areas of Hastings, by encouraging volunteer Cancer Champions to start conversations about cancer, general health and wellbeing and signpost people to support. This report covers the first phase of the project, up to and including the project launch, and is divided into sections that link to the overall project plan.

Macmillan commissioned NPC to conduct an evaluation of the Macmillan Cancer Support programme, focused in particular on five of the eleven sites taking part in the programme.

The Cancer Champions programme is a partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support and local
community organisations across the UK, aiming to raise cancer awareness and reduce inequities. This report presents the progress and findings from the first of Macmillan’s four learning cycles. There will be a second report at the end of the next cycle, in October 2025.
